Call for Nominations: Board of Directors - 2008
The Community Technology Centers' Network (CTCNet) is now accepting nominations for individuals to serve on the Board of Directors. Nominations may be submitted by, and for, any CTCNet Member in good standing. All prospective nominees and nominators are also asked to carefully review and weigh the "Overview of Director Responsibilities" document, available online at (download as PDF)
About CTCNet Board
CTCNet is governed by a Board of Directors, currently numbering eighteen (9) members. In accordance with CTCNet bylaws, at least fifty-one percent (51%) of Directors must be working directly for a community technology center or program. When CTCNet established its first Board, terms were staggered to ensure continuity and to establish a cycle so that each year, some Director terms would end. The Board reserves the right to endorse candidates, based upon organizational priorities.
For the 2008 Election Cycle
- A total of eight (8) Director seats are available.
- At least six (6) of the eight (8) open seats must be filled by individuals that directly work within a community technology center or program, in order to reach our 2/3 requirement. Individuals should work/serve a minimum of 20 hours per week with a community-based organization or program, which utilizes information and communications technology tools and resources to provide a range of vital services directly to individual community members who would otherwise lack access.
- Nominations for individuals representing a CTCNet member organization which, in turn, manages other community technology centers or programs will only be considered for Member Center Representative seats if those individuals work directly within a particular center or program. Otherwise, they will be considered for the Open Representative seats.
- High Priority Considerations for Candidate Pool Include:
o Ethnic and Gender Diversity (women, Latino/Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, Indian/Native American)
o Geographic Diversity (Southwestern, Southern, Pacific Northwest, and Mid-Western states)
o Professional Expertise (nonprofit law, fund development, marketing and communications, finance)
o Programmatic Experience (adult literacy, workforce and community development, housing, youth)
- Orientation phone calls will be scheduled with candidates to explain more about the role, time commitment, and expectations of service on the CTCNet Board, and to afford candidates the opportunity to ask any additional questions concerning Board service.
